A Funny Moment

A Funny Moment

Last night, J and I were watching the finale of the second-to-the-last season Star Trek Deep Space Nine (the crème de la crème of all Star Treks).

So Dax (a Trill) and Worf (a Klingon) are trying to have a baby, but interspecies fertility is tricky, and they’re having no luck.  Worf is about to go off to battle, and Dax tells him that the doctor has found a way to make it possible.

“We’re going to have to get to work on it as soon as you get back,” she teases.

In the stilted manner that amounts to Klingon flirting, Warf replies, “I do not consider that . . .  work.”

J busts out laughing.  “You will,” he yells at the TV, raising his glass in a toast, “oh, you will.”

Is romance dead when your husband cracks wise about your fucked up sex life, and all it does is make you laugh harder?  I love that man.

Yes! I love Deep Space Nine, and actually of all the tv shows I can think of, the various Star Trek franchises often have the best story lines related to IF. Ah, science fiction is always a few steps ahead of society...

Laughing about all this=very good.

Okay, I was a Next Generation fan (don't hate me!), but always liked Worf. Didn't he already have Alexander in the NextGen series? I remember when he and Troi were dating, too. (I thought she was better with Riker).

Anyhoo, glad you two shared a laugh, Lord knows you need 'em to break up the stress!

I'm not remotely knowledgeable about anything sci-fi, but I LOVE that you got to share a laugh over this. To me, that is what romance is really about and by no means a sign that the spark has been snuffed out. That is awesome!

Laughing is ALWAYS good. :) Sometimes it's all we have.

OK, I have no idea what all the Star Trek talk is about, but I love this post anyway. Portrait of a marriage, with alien species. :)

Hee-that is hilarious. I guess there are ways to laugh about even the least-funny things in life, huh? :)

Only someone deep in the trenches can understand that type of humor.

If my husband and I didn't have laughter, we would never survive this journey. So glad you have it too!

Cracking up! So true that what begins as a fun project quickly disolves into "work". ::sigh::

Ahem. Next Gen is way better than Deep Space Nine. Now, I have to say, I LOL at J's toast. :)

very funny! i have had moments like this but mine are filled with sarcasm.

i just think it's a coping mechanism. it makes things easier. it's acceptance of certain realities. it's embracing the pink elephant in the room.

WORD. Though I am a TNG gal myself.

I'm well behind on comments, as you can see! I'm a big Trek fan myself though my preference is for TNG. I've picked up some of the recent novels, and much to my chagrin found that Riker and Troi (now married) have experienced infertility. I had to chuckle as well... here I am reading these books to get away from it all, and still IF manages to find me! I see that J can find the humor in this too :)
